(g)Vim má podporu pre farebné zvýrazňovanie gettext súborov v štandardnej inštalácii (syntax/po.vim). Editovanie súborov si však môžeme ďalej výrazne uľahčiť stiahnutím ftpluginu po.vim. Ten umiestnite do adresára ftplugin v inštalácii Vimu alebo vo Vašom osobnom adresári (~/.vim) a môžete začať využívať nové skratky na pohyb/editovanie prekladu.

Ďalším šikovným skriptom je SuperTab, ktorý vám umožní doplniť v texte už existujúci reťazec pri stlačení Tabulátora (tak, ako ste na to zvyknutí z Unixového shellu). SuperTab.vim umiestnite do adresára ~/.vim/plugin.
